There is darkness. Silence. The cold air sits in anticipation.

The stars twinkle as if they’re winking to us- ready for our reactions to an approaching gift.

The moon smiles bright. Glowing, he seems to look me in the eye and nod his head for he knows what comes next. I observe him make his way off stage with a bow and an exit.

The silence holds its breath for a moment and, without a sound, the Sun roars at its entrance!

The sky blushes to be seen with her.

Her face looks upon the earth with a soft smile and she whispers, “Awake.”

The trees stretch their arms out, content from a lumberous slumber.

The birds begin to sing in joy glad freedom.

Tall and proud stand the mountains, watching over the rivering valleys like an older brother fixated on his courageous sister as she dances in the grass.

The oceans speak waves of wisdom and invite me to search for the knowledge of distant shores and the secrets of waters deep. They flow in emotional movements- modestly blanketing the world and fighting with temperate anger to keep their place.

In every corner creatures grand, and those seemingly not, live in ease as they disregard the boasts of Nature. They bare cancerous heat and the frigid, biting wind. They summit arrogant peaks and dig deep to find treasures well hidden.

The forests gather together to stare at the skies in wonder. O how they long to touch the stars and be with them- their love. They dance eternally- the air kissing them with life and the trees gifting the world with their fruit out of an abundance of affection.

Over all of this the sun observes, and as she lays her head down to sleep, the world again watches in astonishment and quietly settles into the waiting of a new day and breathes a cool sigh of relief.

And again this happens. And again the next day.

This is how it has always been since God made all these things for the Sun to see. Yes, God made the Sun to keep watch over Nature because His attention was elsewhere. You see, many think that the universe is the show and we are its audience. Surely that is not true! The truth is we are the show! God made Nature as the audience. They sit in their seats whispering in anticipation of a flash-mob they don’t even know about. And we see them through the slight opening of the curtain, waiting for the start of God’s story to be told.

The lights dim. The curtains rise.

There is darkness. Silence. The cold air sits in anticipation.

Before the sun has yet to arrive, a Word echos through the void. “Awake,” says the Lord.

And all his children arise. Children of old; children young and new. The images of God reborn and fully alive standing clothed in their fullest potential for the first time since the beginning.

Jesus is back for the finale.

The stars twinkle as if they are blinking at us- gifted with reactions of their own.

The moon shyly makes eye contact while shaking his head in disbelief for he never saw such beauty. Never had he been able to reflect the Son’s light like we were. He bows, now in reverence, and dims from view.

Over the horizon the sun starts to rise, but instead of being greeted by darkness, she is blinded by the light. Light of a billion sons.

For the first time, she witnesses a Sonrise.

The sky blushes to be seen with us.

The trees stretch out their arms in celebration.

The birds hush their singing to listen to the worship that is alive.

The mountains fix their eyes upward and instead of measuring how tall they are, they gaze at the immovable strength and the heights of glory God gave men.

The young river delights in the dancing of children.

The seas still and begin to feel shallow in the presence of deep hearts.

In every corner the creatures look outside of themselves for the first time and are satisfied in what they see.

The wind slows to a standstill so that it may feel God’s own breath on its face.

The forests submit their focus and the dancing skies open the floor to the reunited Bride and Groom. The orchards long to taste fruit as sweet as those which are bared in Truth and Love.

And the sun watches and cries a tear of joy in knowing she was blessed to be chosen to view this tale. And she lays her head down in astonishment of how loved she is and breathes a cool sigh of relief.

And this was the last day.

And there was always light. Worship. The warm air sitting in eternal satisfaction and fulfillment.

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.

I am only $1,100 away from being funded for these three months!!! Please consider helping me cross that finish line!

We just finished month one here in Romania! My team is now in a village called Draganesti-Olt. It is small and beautiful here. Not very luxurious. Not much to do. But God is here telling these people that they ARE seen and known. Please pray for them to open up their eyes and hearts to the gospel and to give my team the perseverance to keep working and planting seeds. Love you all!
