in honor of thanksgiving last week, here’s something that i journaled after some worship the other day…
Father, thank you for not being ashamed to have my picture on your mantle. You put my drawings on your fridge and it invites me to have free access to feast on the food in your house. Thank you, Dad, that your love lead to my adoption and made me an heir of the family business. You hold me when I am scared and push me to peddle without training wheels. Teach me to be like you, to think like you, to love like you, to invite others like you invited me. I want to be as tall as you someday and be able to see everything from that high.
Holy Spirit, thank you for being my driver. Thank you for taking me to my practices and cheering me on even when I fail. You are there to heal me when I trip and twist my ankle and you give me pep talks when I think that I cannot go back out there and win. Thank you for taking me for ice cream because you know I love sweet things. And when I am tired, you bring me back to the safety of my Father’s house and provide me rest and comfort- reading me stories and singing me lullabies.
Jesus, thank you for being the big brother that I never had. I feel honored when all I want is to look like you, so you give me your clothes to wear. You are not ashamed to be seen with me, but you take pride in being seen with me. Thank you for sharing your Father with me and pushing me to go to him without fear. When I see you jumping and dancing in joy, I want to dance battle. Thanks for letting me come into your room whenever I want and never locking me out. I learn a lot by watching you.
Thank you for dinner all the time. I love sitting with you and being filled up so much. It is like a holiday every single day with you. Father, Brother, and Spirit- my family, my friends, my likeness, my go-to, my care takers, my encouragers, my fortress. Thank you.
