A while ago I wrote a blog about a worship night that God used to speak to me. Well, last week my team did worship where we each took a Psalm and rewrote it in our own words to the praise of God. I stumbled upon Psalm 46. This is my psalm.

There is no safer place than the arms of Jesus. He doesn’t stand by when His sheep call out for help. I will not fear when the entire earth stands against me. When physical danger beckons and when spiritual forces are on the hunt. Even when the darkness may cause me to momentarily loose sight of my life’s Light, I will have confidence that He is near to me. Praise Him for His presence!! His presence in me makes me a temple. I am to be a place where people can come to find their Maker. This temple cannot be broken permanently. Society shames me. Impure religion calls me a failure. In spite of this, He lifts me up with a voice of authority. What He says goes. His promises are promised. I am secure forevermore. Look! See! He controls the galaxies. His love breaks bonds and ends wars. His love makes peace in the soul and the heart.

“I am here. I will be known. Be secure in Me. Be my temple. Bring my glory.”

I am in the fortress of the One True God. Selah

I encourage you to find a psalm and rewrite it in your own words. If a lament, pray it to God with sincerity. If a praise, sing it into the open air. Also, like last time I’ll add a Switchfoot song because I love them. Sometimes we go about life and forget about the One who gives life and gives it to the full. He is always there acting out His will on creation. This song makes a point remember that not only is He there, but that it directly affects the way we should go about our existence. “You” by Switchfoot. If you would like to help support me living out in this knowledge around the world with a community of believers, you can donate above. Love y’all.

  3. I love this! I have written Psalms but not in the way you did. My favorite verse in your Psalm…. I am to be a place where people can come to find their Maker.

Praying for you on lots of levels.

  4. Yes!! Do it! It is so amazing to praise or lament in the same feelings as David but with words of your own. It is the process of making your relationship with God your own, and I love it..

  5. Thank you Dawn. I appreciate you bring such a supporting friend. Funny story, I left my phone in a taxi in Quito back in October. My new phone makes its way to me in one week though! Say hi to Jiznits for me and I’ll talk to y’all this weekend! Lol

  6. Thank you so much, Mrs. Petterle. I am definitely going to do this again. Thank you for your prayers!
