Ahh. Ecuador. A new place with new friends. New experiences and new realizations. I am in love with the idea of doing life like this for not just 9 months but, hopefully, a lifetime. Serving, loving, and walking boldly in the authority of the Spirit while still humbling yourself to exalt those around you and in turn exalt the Exalted.

On Monday night, my team sat out on the staircase beside the wall that overlooks the beautiful, lit up city of Quito. We were prompted to audibly thank God for something and to pray for what we want to come out of this year. After a few of the guys praised God and prayed over the future the Holy Spirit laid a prayer up my heart.

“During high school everyone would ask me, ‘What are you doing after school? Are you going to college?’ and I always answered, ‘I don’t know.’ I felt a lack of interest; a lack of urgency. I didn’t care to care about what I would do. I think that was a gift from God. That may sound strange, but when I came across the World Race, suddenly, I knew what I wanted to do. I became excited beyond measure. Through all of this, I heard God’s plan loud and clear. Praise Jesus for His timing and emphasis. My prayer now is that the lack of interest be taken away. That I never fall back into the comforts that normalcy brings. That I live a life full of passion and excitement. By bringing a desert of disintrigue I was flooded with an abundance of faith and heard Him speak. I pray that all of you hear His plan for you like I did. If you don’t, I pray that you seek it.”

I have decided to follow Jesus: no turning back.  I care to care.

  5. Amazing! Our God enjoys doing things to surprise us and to make us wait in trust. He definitely does not do goal setting the American way. The verse that the Grays shared is one of my favorites. God also reminded me of this from Isaiah.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts higher than your thoughts. “For as the rain and snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth, Making it bear and sprout, And providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater, So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
    Isaiah 55:8-11 AMP
