As I sit to write a blog, God just keeps saying to bring it back to the Bible. So I would like to share with you one way I like to connect with the Scriptures and apply it to my life. This may be a thing that you have heard of in a sermon but never actually done yourself: to put your name in the Bible and then read it over yourself. There is a power in speaking the Word over yourself. It realligns your mind with the Truth of Christ. It is looking through the perspective of Heaven. In the song “I’ll Run to You” by Curt Vernon, there are some lyrics that say:

If I don’t feel free
But You say I’m free
I will call my heart a liar
And trust You more than me

If I don’t feel clean
But You say I’m clean
I will call my heart a liar
And trust You more than me

Sometimes we need to be reminded of how God sees the situation. Sometimes we need to see the circumstance as a whole, not just from the ground level peripheral.

Here’s an example of one I wrote from Psalm 21.

O Lord, in your strength Philip rejoices, and in your salvation how greatly he exults! You have given him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah For you meet Philip with rich blessings, you set a crown of fine gold upon his head. He asked life of you; you gave it to him, length of days forever and ever. His glory is great through your salvation, splendor and majesty you bestow on him. For you make Philip most blessed forever; you make him glad with the joy of your presence. For Philip trusts in the Lord, and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved.

Now, when I find myself in a hard place where I cannot seem to find God and the lies of the Enemy start to creep in, I can read this over myself and declare it as Truth. I shall not be moved because I trust in the steadfast love of the Lord. And I am reminded of the blessings God has given me. I encourage you to do this the next time you are spending alone time with Dad to hear what He calls you, His child. Start with Isaiah 55:12.

—————————————–

We are finished with our first month in Romania! Tomorrow we go to the city of Brasov for a debrief. It is a time to rest and reflect on this past month. After that my team heads to a new city for the next two months to continue ministry of church planting and evangelism. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for me! I have only 2 days to be fully funded and I believe you all can help me. Consider donating above! Thanks again!

Much love,

Philip E Wilson

  1. Good stuff. You should try it in the first person as well then read it aloud to yourself. It’s supper powerful with Ephesians.

  2. This is so good. It is a good personal reminder when putting my own name in scripture. Thanks for this great idea!
