Letters from the Church:Guatemala

Oh boy. Angela and Miguel Martinez are an incredible couple that has such a deep love for the Lord. I met them during my time in Guatemala almost two years ago. The way that they love and encourage looks so much like Jesus. I am excited for the day I will be able to reconnect with them in the future! Until then, consider supporting them!

Hello! We are Miguel and Angela Martinez the founders and directors of This Is Vida Ministries. We are so excited to take a moment and share with you about what we are doing here in Guatemala.

Our heart is to walk alongside Guatemalans, as they are trained and empowered to walk in the fullness of what God has for them: emotionally, physically and spiritually.  And to see the Guatemalan body of Christ understand their sonship as Children of God and united as one body to keep developing the nation for God’s glory. We have the amazing opportunity to be able to do all of this through discipleship and education. We know that God has such big things for Guatemala and it is an honor and a blessing to get to be a part of what God is doing here.

It’s been an interesting season for us here with Covid-19; as we have just launched our ministry in the beginning of August of 2020, we have spent a lot of time asking the Lord what this season should look like since it is nothing like we expected it to be, but it’s turned out to be exactly what it needed to be.

Over the last few months we have been able to bless 33 different families each week (almost 300 families which is an estimate of over 1500 people) with a bag of essentials to help take the weight off of their families as the demand for work has dramatically decreased since March.

We have also been blessed to come alongside a sweet 18-year-old mama of two who has been struggling to gain weight (at the start she weighed about 90 pounds) to provide her with vitamin and protein rich foods.

We are also starting a soup kitchen that will run 3 times a week. This soup kitchen is open to anyone in the community that might be struggling to feed their families or just needs a good meal that day. There will be enough soup for around 30 families to take a pot home.

This is not the season we expected, but God knew this was the season that we would be stepping into. We are so thankful and blessed to get to pour into the community of “Bola De Oro”, to bring some relief, and to share with the community that they are not alone in this time…

Hope is alive and God is so faithful!

  1. hey, those are some of my favorite people! what an honor to know them & be known by them. also a pretty dope ministry if you ask me

  2. Guatemala has another piece of my heart. Philip, you and I have visited many of the same places in the name of Jesus for Kingdom purposes. God is at work in many corners of Guatemala, and I pray fruit will multiply from This is Vida Ministries. May the Lord bestow His favor and blessings upon Miguel and Angela as they love others well in being the hands and feet of Jesus.
