Letters from the Church: Cambodia

Cambodia was an incredible country that I have grown to love even more in the year since I left. While I cannot imagine the effects that Covid would have on the economy there, my friend Vina explains how God is in control. Vina is a volunteer teacher with low income families and teaches the children English. She also lived in the same house as us in Battambang. Please read her words of trust and pray that the Lord will continue to lead her in love and endurance.

Hello! My name is Vina and I live in Cambodia. It is such an honor to share with you about what the Lord is doing in my community, ministries, and also my life during this Covid-19 season.

Of course, the virus turned everything into a terrible time and completely changed the whole situation. No matter what has happened however, those who trust the Lord will not be shaken because God truly told us that He is in control, and He will never stop working.

All the schools and churches in Cambodia are temporarily closed? for a really long time and a lot of people here have lost their occupations. This has caused so many people to worry very much about how their lives are going to be, but we are still alive because we have received the provisions of God’s kindness and love for our physical and mental needs. Not only have Christians seen God, unbelievers also have continuously heard the gospel of Jesus and seen how great and faithful God is through the local missionaries. Churches have distributed rice and groceries to show love. I hope to see after the situation of the virus getting better here, God’s children continuing their mission of spreading the unconditional love of Christ to those who are in need, especially kids who are in risk in the rural communities and had to give up their education.

For myself, there are so many challenges in this season that I could never have expected. It was a tough time to say for sure. I tried to care about people around me and myself on my own too much at that time. But the power of prayer changed me a lot. I can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit walking with me, helping me to improve my faith in Christ, and teaching me to fix my eyes on him in every circumstance. He revealed to me that I need to be still and trust him for He is God Who knows the past present and future and the deepest parts of our heart. As the Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11.

Thank you!
