2018 is gone and 2019 is here. On New Year’s Eve, my squad sat in a circle to declare over themselves what they wanted out of the next year. Having just watched the Netflix film “Bird Box” starring Sandra Bullock, God showed me a parallel between that movie and my own life. Let me paraphrase:
“Who all has seen the new movie ‘Bird Box?’ Well, for those of you who haven’t, I’ll try not to spoil it for you. Recently, with fundraising and ministry it has been harder for me to accept my gifts. It has been harder for me to trust God. It has been hard letting go of what I understand. But 2019 is coming. The rapids are coming. And it’s time to put on my blindfold and let the Spirit guide me. When the world comes to take off my blindfold, to show me my heart’s desires, I’ll say ‘no’ because I know that is what will eventually kill me. Do you all remember when Jesus was baptized and the Holy Spirit came in the form of a dove? (Picking up my Bible) Well I’m following the conviction of my own Bird Box that is filled with the Spirit. I declare I will follow His voice to the safe haven at the end of the journey. I declare I will not trust in my own understanding, but I will fully trust in Jesus.”

I am 2 days away from my fundraising deadline and I still need $1,220. But I have faith. If I did not, then my declaration would mean nothing. There are multiple ways that you can help. Donate above. Of all of these, prayer is the most important. Even if you donate, please pray. Even if you share, pray. God is glorified further when a body of believers live in intimacy with the Father together.
ALSO!!! Remember those shirts I sold a couple of months ago? The ones with the blindfold that says “Embrace Uncertainty?” Well after my declaration, God reminded me that this was not a new declaration I’ve made. It just took Sandra Bullock to remind me of this. As it turns out, I have 4 more of those shirts. 1 medium, 2 large (sold), and 1 XL (sold). Since they are limited and I need help, they will be selling at $35 each and that includes shipping!
